1. Service and operator
These terms cover Invent Priority at inventpriority.com, operated from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia by Legal operator name has not yet been published.. Contact: admin@inventpriority.com. Read these terms and the Privacy Policy before creating an account or depositing work. If you do not accept these terms, do not submit content or use the account service.
The technical beta provides sealed text deposits, a public hash-linked evidence ledger, optional public disclosure, independently verifiable timestamp checkpoints when a configured TSA succeeds, and advisory similarity monitoring. The local file calculator fingerprints a file; it does not lodge that file as a deposit. There is no patent filing, patent-attorney representation, identity certification, legal dispute resolution or insurance service.
2. Accounts and authority
Use the service only if you are at least 18 and can enter a binding agreement, or have the legally required authority on behalf of an organisation. Provide an email address you are entitled to use and protect your account credentials and reveal tokens. Registration does not verify email ownership or legal identity. An author label is a user assertion, not a finding by the service.
You must have authority to lodge, compare or reveal the material, including appropriate authority for employer, client or jointly created work. Consider professional confidentiality, privilege, privacy, export restrictions and contractual obligations before using the service. Merely submitting content does not prove that you are its inventor or rightful owner.
3. Your work and the limited permission you give us
You retain whatever intellectual-property rights you lawfully hold. No ownership, authorship, patent right or exclusive licence is transferred to the operator by making a deposit.
You authorise only the processing reasonably needed to provide the functions you request: receive and encrypt content, store it, create fingerprints and evidence records, submit chain-head digests for timestamping, provide authorised access, and maintain security and lawful records. Opting into comparison authorises the stated sketch-based comparisons; creating a monitoring watch authorises the disclosed Crossref title queries. Choosing public metadata or reveal authorises the corresponding public release. This permission does not include selling your invention or training an AI model on it.
We may retain the evidence and related information described in the Privacy Policy to the extent reasonably needed and lawful. This is not a licence for unrelated exploitation and does not override applicable deletion, privacy or confidentiality obligations.
4. What fingerprints and timestamps establish
A SHA-256 match supports byte-for-byte equality of the specific submitted text. Differences in spaces, line breaks, encoding or document formatting change the hash. A chained event links records; a local integrity audit does not prevent a server operator from rewriting a completely unanchored history.
A verified RFC 3161 response binds a chain-head digest to the external TSA’s signed generation time, subject to the TSA’s stated accuracy, trustworthy operation, certificate validation and cryptographic assumptions. A valid inclusion proof links your deposit to that head. It supports existence no later than that external checkpoint time, not the exact deposit time, creation time or the accuracy of an earlier server-clock value. A pending or failed checkpoint provides no independent time evidence. A receipt flag or a date displayed by this site is not a substitute for verifying the signed bytes.
Keep your original exact content, deposit receipt, token, chain inclusion proof and independently obtained trust certificates. Download evidence promptly and verify it outside this service using the verification instructions. A timestamp is not a patent application or official patent priority date, and does not establish novelty, ownership, inventorship or legal admissibility in every jurisdiction. We are not a patent office, court or qualified trust-service certification body.
External timestamps come from a third-party RFC 3161 time-stamp authority (provider not yet configured), not a service we control. Its availability, accuracy, certification status and terms are set by that provider; the operator’s choice of provider is stated on the time-evidence page. Unless the provider states otherwise and the token is verified as such, do not assume a timestamp is a “qualified” timestamp under any regulation. No Bitcoin anchoring or OpenTimestamps service is implemented in this release.
5. Confidentiality, tokens and public release
The server sees plaintext during deposit and watch processing and sees the token on reveal. Content is encrypted at rest, not end-to-end. Account information, author labels, private titles and comparison sketches are not encrypted by the app. Read the encryption explanation before submitting confidential or privileged work. Using the service does not create an attorney–client relationship or legal professional privilege.
Protect and independently back up your original work and token. The service cannot recover a lost token. An account password is not a replacement for it. Security safeguards cannot eliminate the risk of a compromised live server or device.
Public metadata, comparison information and hashes can reveal details or support inference. Public reveal makes the full text accessible to anyone and can be copied beyond our control. Consider a patent attorney’s advice before any disclosure; public release can prejudice patent protection. We cannot guarantee removal of copies held by third parties. Any lawful request to restrict or remove information is assessed under the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
6. Similarity is a lead, not a legal conclusion
Monitoring uses lexical MinHash and title overlap, with opted-in internal records and a limited set of Crossref bibliographic records/abstracts. It is not a comprehensive search of patent databases, the internet, unpublished work or source-code repositories. It can miss closely related inventions and flag unrelated material. No result establishes plagiarism, infringement, novelty or freedom to operate. Have a qualified person assess evidence before making accusations, taking legal action or filing an application.
7. Acceptable use
Do not impersonate others, lodge material you are not authorised to handle, submit unlawful content, use monitoring to harass people, deliberately publish another person’s confidential information, evade access controls or rate limits, interfere with evidence, or disrupt the service or its TSA/index providers. Do not represent this service’s output as a legal ruling or government certification. Report security issues responsibly to the published contact without accessing others’ private data.
8. Availability, changes and charges
This is a technical beta. We use reasonable care in providing it, but do not promise uninterrupted access, permanent hosting, complete monitoring coverage or an always-available external timestamp authority. Failed checkpoints remain unanchored until a later verified attempt succeeds. A later attempt cannot backdate an earlier submission. Maintenance, outages and provider changes can delay work. Preserve independent evidence rather than relying only on the live site.
This version has no payment collection or automatic billing. Any future paid service and its price, billing, cancellation and refund arrangements must be disclosed and agreed separately before a charge is incurred. A change to these terms alone does not authorise a charge.
We will provide reasonable notice of material service or term changes where practicable, explaining when they apply. Urgent changes may be needed for security or law. Changes do not retrospectively transfer rights in your work or erase non-excludable rights. Where practicable and lawful, users will be given an opportunity to export evidence before a material service withdrawal.
9. Suspension, account closure and data requests
Access may be restricted where reasonably necessary to address abuse, security risks, non-compliance or a legal obligation. Where safe and lawful, we will explain the reason and provide a review route. Contact the operator to request closure or review a restriction. Deposits cannot be silently edited or automatically removed through account closure; retention, correction and deletion are assessed as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not promise removal of independently retained public records.
10. Your legal protections remain
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies a consumer guarantee, remedy, privacy obligation or other right that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law. Where such rights apply, they prevail over a beta label, service limitation or disclaimer. The service limitations above describe capabilities and evidential boundaries; they are not a blanket exclusion of responsibility for failing to meet legal duties. Liability and available remedies are determined under applicable law.
11. Questions, complaints and governing law
Contact admin@inventpriority.com with the relevant account email or public event number and the issue you want reviewed. Do not include passwords, tokens or confidential text unnecessarily. For a rights complaint, identify the record, the claimed rights, your authority and the action sought; we review it without treating an allegation as proven. Privacy complaints follow the Privacy Policy.
Queensland law and applicable Australian law govern these terms. Queensland courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction, without removing any mandatory rights or rights to use another competent regulator, tribunal or court. We encourage direct resolution but do not require you to waive regulatory or statutory remedies.
